SAFE in Hunterdon Board President Merrill M. Mezzacappa, Esq., joined the SAFE Board following a 25+ legal career as an assistant prosecutor in New Jersey, where her responsibilities included legal supervision of the sex crimes, child abuse, domestic violence, victim witness and vehicular homicide units. Merrill continues to contribute her skills toward administration of justice for prosecutors in the national, non-profit policy space. She is also active with local organizations that uplift equality for women, girls, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Merrill’s passion for serving on the SAFE Board is rooted in her desire to combat and destigmatize domestic violence and to help the community appreciate its complexities.

Vice President Rebecca Richards, Ed S. is a school psychologist at a public school in New Jersey. Throughout her tenure, she has supported students with disabilities within and outside the Hunterdon County area. She joined the Safe Board of Directors in 2019 and is now the Secretary and heading the Program Committee.

Treasurer Bridget Hartnett, CPA, is a certified public accountant and is the member in charge of the Nonprofit and Social Services Practice at Sobel & Co., LLC. Bridget has been working with nonprofit organizations since joining Sobel & Co. in 1997 and joined the SAFE board in 2020.

Secretary Erin Cohen, CPS, is the Executive Director of Prevention Services for Prevention Resources, a collaborative partner of SAFE. Domestic and sexual violence and substance use ae often interconnected and can significantly impact the well-being of individuals and communities. She is passionate about working with all sectors of Hunterdon County to address these issues to ensure all community members can live happy and healthy lives. She is also on the Executive Committee for the Partnership for Health. Erin has lived in Hunterdon County since 2015 with her husband and sons.

Dave Campbell, Board member joined the SAFE Board following a career in Finance, primarily with Merck & Co. He joined the Board to help in the battle against domestic violence and sexual abuse in Hunterdon County as well as utilize his background in business to help SAFE build a strong financial base to enable the organization to provide critical services for years to come. Dave has a finance degree from the Univ. of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Wharton School at the Univ. of Pennsylvania. Board Secretary 

Antoinette Rice, BA, Board Member, serves as the Director of Employee Benefits and Workforce Wellness for Hunterdon Healthcare. Toni enjoys being a highly active volunteer in numerous Hunterdon County community organizations including her service as a Board member of SAFE in Hunterdon, Campaign Manager for the United Way, swim official for the YMCA, and church ministry leader for Girl Scouts.

Kim Blanda, RN, BSN, Board Liaison, holds dual degrees in business and nursing. As Director of Community Relations for Hunterdon Healthcare System (HHS) and the Coordinator for the Partnership for Health, she has strong ties with our community organizations and is committed to the health and wellness of our residents. In 2020, Ms. Blanda assisted with the rebuilding of SAFE and serves as the liaison between SAFE and HHS. She also sits on our Finance Committee and is an Advisory Member of our Board. Kim resides in Hunterdon County with her husband and children.

Jim Robinson, Board Member, is a commercial real estate agent. He previously served in government and community relations for a telecommunications company. He served as the Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House in New Jersey and as a confidential aid to a Freeholder Director. He was a longtime chairperson of a municipal planning board and president of NJ Planning Officials, an affiliate of the NJ League of Municipalities. Jim has served on profit and non-profit boards, including two bank boards, a United Way board, the Drumthwacket Foundation which runs the Governor’s Mansion in Princeton, the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, a women’s substance abuse facility, a guardianship board, and a substance abuse board that is now a collaborative partner of Safe in Hunterdon. He was selected by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor to be a founding member of the Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers.

The Hon. Peter Buchsbaum, Board Member, is a retired Superior Court judge. Between 2004 and 2013, he served as a family court and civil court judge in Hunterdon and Somerset Counties. Before that, he was in private practice and elected Mayor of West Amwell Township. He has lived in West Amwell since 1974 and joined the SAFE board in early 2020. He chairs the Nominating/Board Development and Bylaws committees.

Laura Hernandez, Board Member, has been a Hunterdon County resident for over 25 years. Currently she works with Hunterdon families for the Norwescap Early Head Start Program. Formerly a client of SAFE in Hunterdon, Laura has been honored to join the board in January 2021 and serve on the Program committee. Her passion for serving on the board is advocacy and SAFE’s engagement with the community.

Rose Puelle, PhD, Board Member, has been a Raritan Twp resident since 1992. She has served on the Flemington-Raritan Board of Education and is in her 2nd term on the SAFE in Hunterdon Board. She has worked for the Hunterdon County Department of Health leading its Public Health Preparedness efforts and currently runs the Population Health Program for Hunterdon Healthcare Partners.

Rabbi Eric Cohen, PhD, Board Member, was born and raised in New York City. Rabbi Eric Cohen attended Ramaz Yeshiva Day School, the University of Pennsylvania, and then Yale University, where he received a Ph.D. in ancient Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. Following graduate school, Rabbi Cohen switched fields and worked as a pharmaceutical market research consultant. During this time, he also served as President of the Park Slope Jewish Center, an egalitarian Conservative synagogue in Brooklyn, NY. After 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Rabbi Cohen decided to switch careers again, and enrolled in Hebrew College Rabbinical School, where he received Smicha in 2012. Rabbi Cohen spent 5 years as a congregational rabbi in Manchester, NH, and taught at the Rashi School in Dedham, MA (a Reform Jewish Day School). Rabbi Cohen has been active in creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQ Jews, exploring innovative prayer experiences, and collaborating with his interfaith clergy colleagues.

Rev. Christine Davies, Board Member, is the Director of Pastoral Care at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She is ordained as a Minister of Word & Sacrament within the Presbyterian Church (USA). Christine is also a trained Spiritual Director, working with individuals and groups. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University. Prior to entering chaplaincy, Christine worked as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist in Philadelphia. She also serves on the Board for Family Promise of Hunterdon County.

Dr. Deirdre Masterson, Board Member, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist at Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC, with locations in Lebanon, Branchburg, and two offices in Flemington, New Jersey. She has a passion for caring for women and helping them navigate their sexual and reproductive health. Dr. Masterton finished her pre-medical education at Washington and Lee University in Lexington City, Virginia.

Linda Quartuccio, Board Member is a longtime Hunterdon County resident, entrepreneur, and community leader dedicated to supporting women, families, and youth. She co-founded Vision Quest Auto Glass in 2009 with her husband, Joseph, growing the business until its sale in 2025. While raising two sons, Linda served in leadership roles including school booster club president, committee member of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, and with BW NICE in support of SAFE. She looks forward to bringing her experience and commitment to SAFE in Hunterdon.

Salvatore Saba, Board Member. is a former Hunterdon County resident, entrepreneur and Commercial Banking Loan Officer of twenty-three years. Sal is dedicated to assisting the Organization in their mission to support women, families and children against domestic violence. Sal is looking forward to assisting SAFE in building a strong financial position and providing the resources the Organization requires for years to come.
