Community Outreach
As a part of its mission, SAFE in Hunterdon provides education and training to those seeking to learn how to prevent or respond to domestic and sexual violence in their community. SAFE provides customized workshops on a variety of topics for individuals, neighborhoods, community organizations, schools, colleges and universities, religious institutions, fraternal groups, small businesses, service providers, corporations and everything in-between.
Our educators use a variety of techniques to engage participants, including lectures, guided discussion, technology, interactive lessons and other materials.
Our Community Outreach Services Include
Teen Dating Violence Prevention
Research indicates that 1 in 3 high school students will be involved in a dating abuse relationship. SAFE offers educational presentations specifically on dating abuse, healthy relationships, and consent. This curriculum provides age-specific lesson plans for 6th-12th grade classrooms and colleges, as well as community youth groups, leadership programs, and athletic programs.
Community Awareness and Engagement
SAFE reaches out to local residents and community members to increase awareness of domestic violence issues, local resources, and ways to help. Our educators can tailor their presentations to meet the needs of any group, whether it be a handful of your neighbors in a dining room over coffee or a formal presentation at your next club or PTA meeting, business luncheon, or other event.
Professional Development
SAFE provides training opportunities to increase professionals’ awareness and understanding of intimate partner and sexual violence, as well as to encourage and empower professionals to effectively respond to victims within their particular professional role.
